The Share Six theme this month, Gold, is in honor of the Gold Hope Project. The Gold Hope Project is a non-profit organization and a group of photographers who are “capturing HOPE…one photo at a time” for families who have children fighting the battle of cancer. We at Share Six wanted to join in raising awareness for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month this September.
I went to a local sunflower field, Grinter Farms, to shoot pictures because I had gold and hope in mind. When we arrived at the field, it showered. There I was, running in the rain through a field of golden flowers, laughing with my two children. My heart was filled with gratefulness that my children are happy and healthy. The shower stopped, and the sun popped out, shining down on us and making the sunflowers glimmer. We turned around, and there was a big beautiful rainbow. Hope! The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is surely filled with a cure for childhood cancer. The golden flowers with the sun beaming down on them are surely happy children free of illness. Our adventure really turned out to be an enlightened journey full of the gold and hope I had in mind when I set out to capture pictures for this month’s blog circle.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, so for all of September we’ve decided to team up and join forces with @thegoldhopeproject to help spread awareness!!
For those of you that don’t know, The Gold Hope Project is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of photographers who aim to provide free portrait sessions to families battling pediatric cancer. As photographers, we understand how truly important it is to document our children’s lives, and what better gift to give to parents going through such a tremendously difficult time! In addition to pairing young warriors with photographers, @TheGoldHopeProject also works to raise funds for pediatric cancer research! If you want to participate with us this month, here are just a few things you can consider:
1. Tag your gold photos with the #TeamUp4GoldKids (for features) and #theGoldHopeProject (to spread awareness). You will have a chance to be featured on one of the MANY participating hubs for the month of September!
2. Go to goldhopeproject.com and see how you can apply to be a registered photographer!
3. Donate! It DOES make a difference!
