In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the theme at Share Six this month is Pink. Breast cancer is one of the most common kinds of cancer in women. About 1 in 8 women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a chance to raise awareness about the importance of finding breast cancer early. Make a difference! Spread the word about mammograms, and encourage communities, organizations, families, and individuals to get involved.
This month I chose to photograph the Varsity Olathe North Cheerleaders. I teach one of them in class this semester and she came in wearing a big pink bow rather than the red ones they typically wear. When asked about it she let me know that they would be wearing the pink bows for all the games and events for the month of October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I felt inspired to capture them, as young ladies, supporting such an important cause. Thank you girls for letting me take your picture and share it with the world!
